Depth, not lighting

A floodlight at the base of a tree, angled toward the treetop. Another one sweeping along a stone wall to bring out its texture. Recessed lights in the driveway, spaced every few steps. The landscape architect isn’t trying to illuminate the grounds—he’s choosing what we look at.

Two Powers, One Family

6 W for a shrub, a grass, or a flower bed; 18 W for a mature tree, a wall, or the facade of a shed. The 4-inch recessed lights provide lighting for walkways and steps. Everything is low-voltage, everything is IP67-rated, and everything communicates with the same controller.

Right on the facade, not next to it

The yard is another area in the app, with its own scenes and schedules: walkways at sunset, trees until midnight, all in warm white on Tuesdays, and in color for the pool party. Pressing a button lights up both the house and the yard at the same time.

Installation

How is it installed?

By a certified installer, in one day for most homes.

Survey and Map

A site visit, both during the day and, if possible, at night: we choose what to highlight and what to leave in the shadows—that’s just as important.

Buried wiring

Low voltage, a few inches below the mulch or lawn, without digging a trench. The integrator coordinates with the landscaper if landscaping is underway.

Spotlights and Recessed Lights

Mounted on posts in the flower beds, on fixed bases at the base of the walls, or recessed into the driveway. Each floodlight is adjusted each evening, one by one.

Commissioning

Areas and schedules set up with you: paths at sunset, trees until whatever time you choose. Cloud-based or local.

6 W or 18 W: How do you choose?

Based on the size of the subject and the distance. 6 W for a shrub, a grass, a small wall, or a flower bed. 18 W for a mature tree, a wall over two meters high, or a shed. Too much power on a small subject will overwhelm it; the integrator adjusts the intensity on site, in the evening.

Should we dig?

Not much. The wiring is low-voltage and is buried a few inches deep, without the need for a trench or a permit. Driveway in-ground lights require a cutout in the pavers or a cutout to be made if the driveway is being built.

What about the lawn mower, the snowblower, and the dog?

The floodlights are made of aluminum with tempered glass lenses; the recessed lights are flush with the ground and can withstand being stepped on. The buried cable is out of reach of the lawn mower. The snowblower goes right over the recessed lights; we avoid placing a pole-mounted floodlight in the path of snow removal.

Does it go well with the facade?

Yes, and that's the most common scenario: the facade, the yard, and the pool are separate zones controlled by the same controller, each with its own scenes and schedules. One app, one tap to turn everything on.
