Trial Kit — Before the Pre-Sale
Do the mosquitoes here
feel the same way?
TWO Lighting Concept has been putting this amber strip to the test for several seasons in France, in collaboration with our partner Le Comptoir de l'Éclairage. The feedback from Europe has been positive. It remains to be seen whether our mosquitoes hate it as much as theirs do—and no French data can tell us that. Before launching the pre-sale in North America, we want to test it here, with real customers, using a control area.

IllumiDEL CanadaWhy This Program?
It's not for sale yet.
We're evaluating it.
The product has been on the market in France for quite some time now, and the feedback has been positive—we take their word for it. But our species are different from theirs, as are our summers, and no one has yet compared two identical areas on the same evening. Without a control group, it’s impossible to distinguish the effect of the product from that of the weather, the season, or anticipation.
What Has Been Established
Flying insects' vision is most acute in the ultraviolet and blue spectrum. An amber light source at 590 nm emits neither—this is just optics, not a claim.
What remains to be verified
Our species— Aedes, Culex —aren't exactly the same as those in Europe, and a summer in Quebec isn't the same as a summer in France. The true extent of the effect here, on a patio, remains to be determined.
Why Are We Waiting?
A broken promise reflects poorly on the integrator first and foremost—in the eyes of the client. We’d rather lose a season than expose you to a product we can’t stand behind.
The Protocol
Six sessions, one evening a week
Designed to be performed by an installer, not by a laboratory. Allow about thirty minutes per reading.
Choose two comparable areas
Same property, similar exposure and vegetation, with a distance of at least ten meters between the two. Zone A is lit with amber lighting; Zone B retains the customer's usual lighting.
Set up the kit
Amber tape in Zone A; one sticky trap suspended at a constant height below each zone. Both traps are identical and placed at the same distance from the source.
Rise at dusk
Turn on the light at dusk; count two hours later. Use the same time slot for each count—mosquito activity varies greatly from hour to hour.
Note the conditions
Temperature, wind, humidity, and rainfall over the past twenty-four hours. Without this data, two evenings cannot be compared. Everything is listed on the provided sheet.
Reverse the zones at the halfway point
After four readings, the amber moves to Zone B. If the deviation follows the product rather than the location, the result is valid. This is the step that gives the entire test its value.
Submit the forms
A photo of the trap and a completed data sheet after each survey. Eight surveys over six weeks. We compile the data, and you receive the complete results—whatever they may be.
